Two articles of note

How the brain works in inducing fat breakdown; more knowledge on sleep apnea. Read on…

If you are dealing with a chronic pituitary condition chances are you are also dealing with weight. And, as we all know, there are no easy solutions or magic wands to weight loss. But hopefully more knowledge will lead to real scientifically based practical solutions for patients.

1-s2.0-S0092867415011071-fx1The first article talks about some interesting research on the way the brain signals fat cells to breakdown. The authors think this knowledge could lead to better understanding of the puzzle that enables leptin to induce weight loss and help us maintaining healthy weight levels.

Here’s the article. From brain, to fat, to weight loss: New study reveals neural mechanisms responsible for fat breakdown. And if you are really interested in the sources, here is an abstract to the original submission in Cell Journal.

On another note, we also found an interesting article on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and its relation to vascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes, a condition that many of us pituitary patients often deal with. You can read the abstract here or link to a pdf with the complete article.
